About Connor J. Weir

Connor began learning guitar at the age of 10, taking lessons from his grandfather before quickly progressing to more formal tuition on the mainland. His dedication and musical growth led him to earn a place at the prestigious Leeds Conservatoire, where he studied jazz guitar full-time. During his time there, he co-founded the gypsy jazz trio Where is the Red Scarf?

After completing his undergraduate studies, Connor pursued teacher training at the University of Aberdeen, qualifying as a secondary music teacher. While in Aberdeen, he performed regularly as part of a gypsy jazz duo with Coralie Usmani and played guitar for the University Jazz Society Combo. He also collaborated with local musicians including Mathew Kilner and Richard Glassby.

Connor went on to teach music and music technology at Tobermory High School for three years. Alongside his teaching, he developed as a solo guitarist, performing across the Isle of Mull in a variety of venues—from An Tobar arts centre to galleries and intimate rural settings.

Now entering a new chapter, Connor is focused on growing as an artist and composer, actively seeking new creative opportunities and collaborations.
